Studying in good expensive college

 Studying in Good Expensive College

I was studying in prestigious college. The biggest thing I observed that we
all students were living in an incredibly competitive world and were all
on the same track in some kind of race, somehow competing for the same
thing.

Nobody knew what that thing is, but somehow high grades and going to an
expensive college are supposed to get us there.

After I graduated from college I realised that the truth is, the world is
not that competitive. My observation is that people who know how to
cooperate, to help others rather than worry excessively about their own
achievement, are often the happiest and most successful, by any reasonable
measure of success.

When I was studying in college I always thought that there is a great
advantage in getting into an elite, expensive, hard-to-get-into college.

I found this is myth. The myth was because a failure on the part of
people who should know better to distinguish between correlation and
causation.

Yes, going to a prestigious college correlates with getting a prestigious
job and high income later on in life, but that doesn’t mean that going to
the prestigious college is in any way the cause of such success . One
should take advantage of facilities, good faculty members teaching and
good students coming to that college and try to learn maximum from
environment provided by college and work on ones personality building .
These learnings will help individual in one way or other. These learning
experiences correlates to ones successful happy life.

Benefit of company

When we were studying in school, in our english class we learnt idiom “man

is known by company he keeps”. We used to make sentence of this idiom but
never realised true meaning of it.

In class 6th my mother taught me how to mend my torn clothes. She taught
me sewing stitches on torn clothes. I was so excited that I am empowered
now, as I can stitch my torn clothes. But my mother always used to
emphasize never keep needle with reel of thread without being thread in
it.

My mother told me that needle as seperate entity is dangerous as it can
pierce any body skin, with a result blood can come from skin and if not
taken care there is chance of developing infection.

Then I extrapolated my mother story of needle by my creativity. I told my
mother “mom see when needle is in good company of thread its nature become
good instead of hurting someone it is being used in connecting two torn
clothes. ” My mom was happy to listen to my interpretation of good
company.

Moral of story is friends as needle nature of hurting someone change in
good company of thread. Hence man is known as company he keeps.

Successful person Dilemma

We live in joint family. My youngest uncle is successful entrepreneur. I have seen him in his struggle time. We used to study for our exam at night time. My uncle would come late at night and sometimes used to work. He is our source of inspiration. He will tell us stories of his humiliation and repeated failure. We still respect our uncle. When ever we are in problem we take advise from him. As I am growing old I am finding most people are looking for shortcuts of success so that they can be successful without paying price for it. This I am seeing that my uncle is successful person, many people including my extended family members , friends and relatives want to exploit his success for their personal gain. Some of our family friends want them to use my uncles influence to get their work done or o get them jobs in some company, recommend their cases to higher ups or give them benefits using his influence. These things happen with most successful people. Interestingly, most of them actually did not appreciate my uncle when he was struggling in their lives. Now when my uncle has become successful, everyone wants to get benefited. My respected uncle knows, most of these demands people who need help from him are not only illegal, but also unethical. It is also impossible to fulfill the aspirations of all such people since once he helps one person, there are many who would seek the same favour for themselves also almost as a matter of right. Hence, most successful people like my uncle start avoiding such people or refuse to fulfill their demands. But if my uncle come to know it is a case
which is to be helped he does it as soon as possible. However, most people who wish to seek unjustified help instead of finding fault in their own change behaviour, blame the person who is successful for being arrogant due to success. It is also true that for in case of some people, success goes in their head and they start treating others as dirt when they achieve success. However, if one has stood up with the successful person in his difficult times, and one doesn’t try to use successful person for personal gains, most of successful persons would continue to behave normally with one even after achieving success. Donot waste two things

From childhood on words we have been told that never waste food. Food served on your plate should be completely consumed. Our respected farmers work very hard to bring crop to market. We should be grateful to them. Moreover there are many brothers who get two time food with lot of difficulty.

Second thing we should not waste is pleasant moments of our life. We should enjoy those moments. We should be thankful to God for same.

Friends keep smiling some time for yourself sometimes for others

Higher Maths in School-Its Precious

In India maths till class 10 is compulsory for all kids. In class 11 and 12th  students opting for PCM has to go for higher maths which include calculus and higher algebra containing  determinant and matrix etc. Parents know Math is Crucial to Kids’ Success — But Say It Needs an Update.

Maths is seen as perhaps the most critical subject that children study and a key to their future life. But educators need to make their instruction more engaging and connected to students’ own lives. Many students told me in Class they got scared of higher maths as it became very abstract, and more over teaching of maths was so boring that students got disinterested. Maths is subject which need lot of practice which means lot of hard work.

The survey, conducted by many research  Group, shows   the necessity of math skills in both promising career paths and the demands of everyday life.

In India parents send children for maths tutoring from class 3 on wards. As parents  feel that their kids are not getting fully adequate preparation in school for subject like maths. A subject like maths, children will need to succeed later in life

Asked to choose among a list of academic subjects, 60 percent of the survey sample) named math as either “extremely important” or “very important,” more than for any other discipline.

Parents strongly feel calculus should not be taught at class 11-12 level

In the main, complaints about math education related to its applicability to the world that students live in.  The subject was similarly described as less useful and engaging than it ideally would be, while sizable minorities of parents and teachers described our current approach to math as complicated, boring, useless and irrelevant.

Many feel that make math more culturally relevant to disadvantaged and minority students.

Parents, teachers, and the general public see a disconnect between the math education. “Parents and educators point to a solution: Making math education more relevant for students and more connected to the real world.

I was teaching statistical  thermodynamics to my M. Sc class ,upto my surprise I found there were many students in my class who left maths at class 10 th level. Many students get confused when I write 2x Or x**2.

I convinced my students that in world of science and technology where everything is going to be computer dependent it is not a right choice to stop studying maths at class 10 th level.

Benefit of living at your own term

Live at your own term, I have never had any experience about it when I was small.

I was living in joint family. My mother will ask me to finish one task, but after some minutes my great aunt will ask me to do different task.

One of the things that I learned very early in life from this exercise was that one can’t please everyone. No matter how hard one may try, there will always be someone who disagrees or unhappy with one, criticizes you, or dislikes you for some reason.

To please my mother and great aunt I used to do several extra work for them. But soon I realized I am wasting a lot of time and energy trying to change their minds or make my mother and great aunt happy, I found it is usually not worth it.

I realized instead I should focus on being myself and do what makes me happy. I started surrounding myself with people who supported me, respected me, and appreciated me for who I was. But I made a point to be kind and respectful to others, even if they don’t reciprocate me. But don’t let them dictate my choices or my happiness. I am the only one who can live my life, so make sure I lived it on my own terms.I used to help my mother at time I was free mentally. My mother accepted and appreciated my this approach  to life

How important is company one keeps

When I was in school in my english class I was taught a idiom"man is known by the company he keeps ".Our english teacher made us make us sentence using the same idiom. But it didn't struck my chord at that time.

As I grew up my mother taught me how to stich my torn clothes with help of sewing needle. In the process she taught me how to put  different type of stitches.

I was very happy to learn stitching process and felt empowered that I can do something useful. My mother instructed me never to leave needle alone. As alone needle can be dangerous and can pierce someone skin, as a result some time blood also comes out.

As soon my mother finished her instructions I told my mom"maa when needle is in good company of thread it's nature all together become different. She becomes useful as she does good task  of bringing two torn clothes together and make positive bridge. Important thing is it good example of idiom -man is known by  company he keeps ".my mother was happy to listen to my logical answer.

Moral of story is one should try to be in company of good person, that will give one opportunity to learn positive things.
