Back Bonding in Chemistry

I was teaching my students the concept of back bonding in chemistry class. Back bonding is a chemical phenomenon in which electrons pass from one atom's atomic orbital to an acceptor (ligand). The metal's electrons are used to bind to the ligand, relieving the metal of excess negative charge in the process. I  summarized my lesson in the form of a poem. The same I am listing below for my esteemed readers.

I am Carbon #monoxide(CO), a daughter

Transition#Metal(TM) is my mother

She is special as she has d electrons in her outermost orbit.

I, CO, wish to be together with my #mother (TM)

To do so, I form a sigma bond by overlap

Of my non-bonding (or weakly anti-bonding)

sp-hybridized #electron pair on my carbon

With a blend of d-, s-, and #p-orbitals on the TM -My mother

After the formation of the #sigma bond,

There is an overlap of filled d-orbitals on the TM (mother)

With a pair of #pi- antibonding orbitals

Projecting from the carbon atom of  me (CO),

This bonding is from #TM to CO

Rather than usual from CO to TM

It involves pi orbitals.

This phenomenon is called #pi back bonding(BB)

The compound formed with BB of d electrons has pi bonding character.

Through BB, the TM-carbon (part of me) bond is strengthened

Mystic Tree

I was asleep suddenly a small green tree came to me and started talking to me.

Most #astonishing part was that the tree was talking to me in the form of a poem. I  was surprised to see a talking tree.

I am listing below a poem which short green tree with small leaves, #recited for me.

"I am a tree of  average height bearing fruits,

Shining in daylight; red-yellow are my fruits;

In #colder region of the country

I grace every house front lawn,

I act as  #sun screen

And give #shadow green to every lawn.

I sustain at little low

 Temperature – weather; spring/winter.

I bear Fruits full with #iron contents ,

My fruit has #low GI ,and is recommended by doctors,

As part of lunch/ breakfast, for children, #adolescents,

Adults, citizen senior and diabetic patients.

My country men respect  and #protect me,

 They always remember that,

If  they cut my stem,

and  pluck my #raw fruits,

then I –their #favourte fruit,

 tree will be no more,

then #ground water they are getting,

will also be no more.

My country men are proud of me,

I am also proud of them,

Friends you recognized me right,

When you eat my #fruit a day,

It keeps a doctor away,

Friends I am an Apple Tree!

I salute and bless all my country men,

 For their kind acts fondly.---------"

I breathe in #de Oxygenated air,

With the help of #sun king rays,

And #chlorophyll in my green queen leaves,

 #Photosynthesis reaction takes place,

I breathe out #oxygenated air,

To give my countrymen,

   breath of fresh air.

fondly.---------"

Suddenly, I heard an alarm on my clock. I woke up and was confused for some time, thinking maybe an apple tree was meditating, and in dream I could listen to its #meditating language. I soon realized that the tree talking to me in a dream was nothing but an apple tree. I am still not clear how a tree could talk to me in a dream, and that too it picked up "a poem form" to talk in my dreams. I must say it was a very good dream as it gave me #mystical experience.

Acid A cooking King

I was teaching science at school. In chemistry class, I showed students a bottle of acid. In the chemistry lab, I did a simple experiment and showed students the physical and chemical properties of Acid. To make my lesson interesting, I taught students how, in cooking procedures, we do use acids to make food tasty and boost immunity. To clear the salient points of my lecture, I wrote a poem entitled "Acid- Equaliser- Immunity Booster" and pasted it on the notice board of my school. The same I am listing below for my esteemed readers.

Acid- Equaliser- Immunity Booster

Sourness—sourness ! in food guys,

It is #conjecturing our faces, guys.

Don’t worry dear, sourness is due to me, guys.

I am acid,

I contain hydrogen ions,

I am sour in nature, friends.

In fruits, lemon and  orange,

I am acid citric,

In #Tamraid I am acid #tartaric,

In yogurt, I am acid #lactic,

In green apples, I am acid  #Malic.

My Sourness in food,

It is detected by your taste buds, friends.

They are present on your tongue-sides.

I(acid) actually brightens your food flavors,

I energize dishes and reduce their  greasiness,

I can reduce seafood, #aroma characteristics.

I prevent the browning of cut vegetables,

By slowing the enzyme that causes this,

My acidity is measured through scale of #Ph

Acidity for me (acid) measures on a scale of 0-7 pH.

In #Bollywood films,

My image is very bad,

Sometimes I am used as a destructive tool,

 By #villain of the film,

But friends for you,

I am actually very good,

My presence in food,

 Make you salivate.

It makes it easier for you,

To digest what you eat.

In the second wave of Corona,

Which was going on with swing full,

It was advisable to use citrus fruits,

Acid present in citrus fruits,

Boost the immune system to extent.

Acid, you act as an equalizer in my food,

Your place in cooking is like a king,

You balance out taste of sweet and salt,

You overall prevent any taste,

 Dominate in any dish.

Thank you, my friend Acid,

For being so nice and kind,

Helping with our immunity boost,

In the time corona difficulty,

My friend Equalizer,

and my family salutes,

You are respected for all you do.

To maintain our good health.

Thank you, my friend Acid,

For being so nice and kind,

Helping with our immunity boost,

In the time corona difficulty,

My friend Equalizer,

Me My family and salute,

You are respected for all you do.

To maintain our good health.

Wish of Mother Rani

 Wish of Mother  Rani

It is very difficult for Rani to forget the formula which decides gender formation, ie, male/female in any species, ie, xx=xy (pair of chromosomes), which she was taught in tenth class by her biology teacher. Why this formula haunts Ms Rani till today is a million dollar question. She cannot forget how, under pressure from her mother-in-law and husband, she got herself aborted a few times, because she was carrying a baby girl. To some extent, she was also party to that awful decision.

She understands what she did was a sin—— and she was morally incorrect. But why did she take this decision? She has no concrete convincing answer to herself till today. The fact that she cannot share this black truth of her life with anyone in this world, even with her own dear and near ones, is a big pain for her. Rani knows that valid questions like—Are you mad, Rani?—What is the point in getting so much education if you can’t face the world?-etc—etc will be raised if she shares this secret with anyone, even if they are her own sisters. It is also a fact that all said and done, she is not ready to become a mother to her second daughter at any cost. When she looks back on her own journey, those sad dark patches of her life journey and unhappy experiences that make her reinforce her decision, that is what action she took was right, though it is painful for her till today.

Rani works as a helper in the canteen of a famous women's college in Delhi, and happens to get a platform for interaction with women coming from different walks of life. During many meaningful conversations, they convey to her that the time has come for Indians will study the necessary and sufficient conditions of this genetic formula, xx=xy. And very soon will implement those conditions in Indian society, in such a way that each citizen of’ India today ‘will feel pride, comfortable and will get equal rights and opportunity.

For Rani, it is nothing but a dirty joke. She knows that for states of her country like Haryana and Punjab, formula xx<xy.

Enough is enough, but Rani is still waiting after 75 years of independence, that when we Indians, who boast of our cultural, spiritual and science- technical know how heritage, will come out from these conservative believes and assure ‘Aam nari’(ordinay Indian woman) like Rani that TV serials like ‘satyamev jayte’ will not get buried in history of India. When will ’ Aam nari’ (ordinary Indian woman) get justice from her own society, and will she feel proud in giving birth to a female child?

How will this be possible? Rani always asks these questions herself. Yes! It is possible, Rani, ‘didi ji’ in my college tells me, if we all sincerely salute to blessings of motherhood and count our blessings and recognize the talent, beauty and importance of a little bundle of joy and change our mental setup.

Rani is hopeful and still waiting for that new auspicious morning—

Cooking makes Creative Family

 poem "Wonderful is Cooking Activity"

Wonderful is Cooking activity,

In my family,

Sometimes I cook,

Sometimes my husband cooks,

Sometimes my daughter-in-law cooks.

Therapeutic is a cooking activity,

There is nothing in a woman's DNA,

That makes it her responsibility to

cook,

In India, people are always anxious,

To know who cooks in another family,

Is it fair to do so?

Please leave alone,

That respected Integrated family,

And let them make their own way,

 If somehow you,

Can't appreciate  their  cooking,

Please do not  make this cause of tension,

Best not to eat at their place,

Let them enjoy their cooking,

A peaceful activity,

That makes them Integrated,

creative family.

Quote about criticism Sukarma Thareja

One should not melt with praise, nor boil with criticism. Keep performing your duty selflessly. Because everything of this earth will remain on this earth.

Secret of My granny's Sharp Memory

My dear granny goes to the temple,

 To light candles before God,

She prays on bended knees for our well-being,

My dear granny cooks food for me every day,

People say Granny does her routine duty,

But friends more than routine duty,

She is more exposed to the same activity,

Like a golfer practicing a swing thousands of times.

 That makes stronger connections,

 Between neurons in Granny’s brain,

In return, she gets a gift of God-good Memory.

The fact is each of the brain’s 100 billion nerve cells,

It can have 10,000 connections to other nerve cells.

These creative projects my granny does,

 Makes- synapses, creates new circuits,

Between nerve cells, which essentially remaps her brain.

The sheer number of possible connections due to creative activities,

Gives granny’s brain unfathomable flexibility,

 And builds up functional reserves,

That provides a safety valve against future cell-neuron loss,

That makes Granny’s memory strong.

People also ask me how come your granny,

Is so active and energetic with sound memory,

The secret is that my granny also does challenging,

Along with her routine duties with amicable joy,

She does creative activities like reading fiction and painting,

Learns new skills to make her brain active and strong.

My granny avoids doing creative, challenging activities,

Then some parts of her brain’s neurons,

Which are not being used regularly,

 Will automatically get pruned,

Granny’s brain will be in a state of mental pruning,

That will make Granny’s memory weak.

Friends! To retain good memory, a gift of God, the best is should remain.

Engaged in creative activities like my granny,

Let one's brain do challenging activities,

So to have a strong connection between neurons of the brain,

As memory is a game of connections,

Please do treasure this God-given gift of good memory.

Indian Curry

India is a vast country. It has many states. Each state is unique in its traditions and, very importantly, infood curries. Food is still a very important activity of  women in India. Food diversity in India is absolutely

 mind-boggling, so is Indian curries.

I am fond of cooking. Being a chemistry teacher, I enjoy making my own recipes, and I also try them as and when I get time.  We Indians make different types of curries.

We friends sometimes do discuss different curries, different curries  or gravies in our Indian cooking methods.

My friend Asha wanted me to write several different curries in the form of a little article so that she could send the same to her daughter living in USA. I wrote a summaryof different Indian curries. My submission  is as follows

The Western and outside world thinks Indian curry is just one reddish oily one, either it is veg or nonveg. But it is not so. We have the following types of curries, depending on the main ingredients. I am listing below.

1. Regular ground onion, red chillies, and tomato curry.

 Like in chicken curry

2. Mashed lentils (dhals), chilly powder, tamarind gravy

.. Like in sambaar

3. Plain mashed dhal with red chillies and ghee…

as in dhal tadka

4. Onion, green chillies, tomato curry. Tomato gravy

 for rice and chapathis

5. Onion, chili powder, tomato curry.

 Like in potato -peas gravy

6. Onion, chili powder, tamarind curry.

As in Chennai dish kara kuzhambu or Madras spicy red gravy

7. Onion, green chillies, and coconut paste curry.

 Like in kurumas, Kerala gravies

8. Red chillies, tamarind, and coconut curry.

 Like Mangalore gravies

9. Onion, chillies, cashew/almond paste,/cream curry.

 Like Lucknowy and Kashmiri curries

10. Bengal gram green chillies, ground together with curd added

 last…Tamil butter milk gravy

11. Bengal gram powder, curd, green chillies curry…

 As in Punjabi kadi

12. Onion, black pepper and tamarind curry.

 Milagu kozhambu..Tamilian pepper gravy,

Moral of the Story: Friends, we need one chilly/ pepper type,

one base and one sour balancer or sweet balancer.

The base can be onion, cooked dhal,  Bengal gram paste, ground coconut, tomato, curds, tamarind, fresh cream, almond or cashew or poppy seeds.

Unbaked Pichers

My student Radha said, "School teaching is a very hard job. Even the salary structure is also not good, but Madam, you still keep a very strong opinion that a teaching job is most suitable  for me."

I said, "My student, my parents-in-law are old and have 45 years of married life together. The pattern of their fights that I observe is always the same. They always try to change each other, which seems impossible. Both have individual personalities."

I further said"Out of love and concern about  loved one's health and safety issues, I have seen more and more people like my in-laws who tend to change their dear ones.  However, in this process, they forget their originality. They try to impose their wishes and habits on their loved ones, which sometimes is suffocating for them."

Friends, but in our teaching job, we teachers get the opportunity to inculcate good habits in our children/students by practicing good habits ourselves. We can teach them the right things when they are children. It's such a joy to make changes  in unbaked pitchers-our students

The pitcher that is already baked(adults) will break if we try to change its shape.

We teachers, find a lot of things that could be improved in society. But it is very hard for us(teachers)to change parents, spouses, neighbors, colleagues, because they are baked, solid, and hard.

In the process of teaching, we teachers bring# positive changes in ourselves also. We learn to ignore things and let others live how they want. Sometimes, if the need arises, we maintain a distance from them to suppress unnecessary conflicts.

Moral of the story-Education is a process and not product. We teachers, are an important part of education. Teachers are always involved with unbaked pitchers(students), therefore, they are nation builders.

Grand Daughter-Grand Father o

 Grand Daughter-Grand Father Duo

I am  my grandfather's candle light,

I keep account of all his activities,

What is he eating?,

At what time is he eating?

The diet recommended  by doctors,

Is he eating?

Has he taken his medicine?

 Prescribed by a doctor?.

My grandfather  is a patient  of asthma,

I keep track,

If he has taken his required dose,

Of asthma medicine through a puff?.

Did he go for his evening  walk?,

Did he go to collect bread and fruits for me?

In the evening from the market nearby,

Are his clothes ironed properly?,

That's why Dadaji calls me,

His daughter's candlelight is bright.

I share with him all my academic,

 Homework difficulties,

Dadaji tells me tricks to handle,

 My problems,

He encourages me in the field every day.

He is my best friend,

When he is out of the home,

His absence at home disturbs me,

When he  goes to his village,

For a few days,

For his return and safety,

I pray daily.

With him, I have a different  type,

 Of  bonding strongly,

We understand  each other,

Even without uttering a few words.

My grandfather  loves me,

He will not take,

His food was without seeing me,

God bless Grand daughter-grandfather duo

Friendship eternal.

Physician at Clinic

Physician at Clinic

My friend Mamta was a general physician. She had just finished her internship, and was waiting for a letter of appointment from the government hospital.

Mamta’s father's friend Dr. Rana was surgeon. It so happened that he was going on a personal assignment abroad. Dr Rana said," Since I will be away from my clinic for six months therefore Dr Mamta can practice in my  medical clinic".

Mamta was very happy to get such a good offer  from Dr Rana. Mamta started going to Dr Rana's medical clinic. Only three to four patients used to come.

After that, Mamta had to wait in the clinic as her timings were from 9 am to 12 pm.

Mamta, being very fresh, was confused about how to pass her time in the clinic .When patients were not there. When patients were not in clinic to pass her time, Mamta would knit a sweater. Clinic staff were unhappy with this arrangement.

One day, a senior health staff member came to Dr Mamta and told her Madam, this clinic is very precious for all of us. Dr Rana taught us not to waste a single minute in this clinic. But Madam Mamta up to our surprise, in your free time, instead of reading  health scientific journals lying in the cupboard of Dr Rana, you waste your precious time knitting sweaters. Madam, this is not acceptable tothe staff of this health clinic.

Dr Mamta realized her mistake and apologized for the same.

The moral of story is that every moment at  workplace should be spent for the cause of profession.

Key Words- General Physician, Surgeon, Clinic Staff, medical scientific journals

Philosophy improve thinking

Philosophy isn't just about theories,

It's a valuable tool that sharpens ,

The mind and trains us,

 To  openly think and brings,

 Order in thoughts,

That's exactly why people smart ,

Are drawn near it .

Philosophy insist you to think about the matters ,

people take very casually otherwise,

It sharpens clarity in a world full of noise.

It opens up thinking in many dimensions

philosophy serves as a framework powerful

for learning any other discipline later in life.

It’s a mindset essential,

That we should be nurturing ,

philosophy from day one,

Philosophy as a school subject ,

Isn't extra — it's essential for life"_

Mother Scientist

Poem escribrs how morher who id scientific in approach to her work bridges subjectivity and objectivity at home front.on pyher words itprovide comprehensive view of mother scientist

Bridging Subjectivity and Objectivity: While science focuses on objective truths, poetry allows for the subjective, emotional experience of that truth, providing a more comprehensive view of reality.

Examples of Integration of science and arts areScience Haikus: Students and researchers write haikus to succinctly summarize complex concepts like neurobiology or environmental issues.

Nature Journaling: Combining sketching, painting, and poetic reflections with scientific observations in nature.

My first science arts  creation is mother scientist

I am a scientist,

I fondly work in a research lab,

I am also a mother,

With equal passion, I work in the home lab.

Sometimes I work alone in a science/home lab,

I tell myself Oh! Mother, oh! Scientist,

be brave, apply your scientific skill

and enlighten your

sense of a scientist and motherhood.

I am getting trained in science/home front,

and training others/children too for something unique,

special which has  goal-oriented science/family culture,

I must feel proud, working in lab, home/science,

to sustain a culture of science in research/home lab.

When I work in a science/home lab,

sometime nobody is there to speak to me,

I speak to myself and work alone,

I wonder sometimes in lab science/home.

No one is responding to my call,

I tell myself why I am working alone.

Yes! to set a role model for,

new researchers /family members,

In lab –science/home.

Friends some extra money I keep for difficult times,

same with special zeal, I work in science/home lab.

My soul gives me unique strength and belief,

it gives me email: “Oh! Mother, oh! Scientist! You can’t go back,

to go back is impossible in existence.

So please like the river fearlessly,

enter the ocean -knowledge- science,

one day, you will certainly become ocean – ocean-knowledge-science,

and with strong resonances of your work in science.

Sky will definitely come down to salute,

You, dutiful, dedicated scientist mother: ocean- knowledge-science.

Let us honour the woman mother scientist who raised us,

making sacrifices for us every day,

and nurturing our families and,

greater communities by contributing to the science society,

positively with their precious time and endless

effort.

Woman Scientist Spiced Tea

I was very busy with my female students in the science lab. Our school had decided to hold open house for school

children, guests and parents. We, all science teachers, were giving final touches to science projects and models which were to be displayed in the open house of the school. To help students and teachers work in their comfort zone, the school provided everyone with help in the open house  activity of the school with hot Good spiced tea every two hours. It was a lot of fun to work with young minds(girls) who wish to  do science at higher education.

I came home, and before night sleep I wrote a poem about young minds(girls) interested in science. The sameI pasted the notice board of my school. The same I am listing below for my esteemed readers.

Spiced Tea-Scientist

Today’s women scientists,

Work very hard toward their #passion for science,

They boil themselves like spices in tea,

When a fresh researcher in lab science,

They are like pure milk -fresh, cool,

While working in lab science,

They get crushed like ginger in spiced science tea,

With their own power analytical,

And scientific aptitude they add #flavours,

Of sugar to science #spiced tea.

Today’s women scientists are not only homemakers,

But the CEO of an established lab #prestigious,

They use spices like no fear for storms of technology-science,

Understanding of every #utility app of science,

Writing #algorithm for #Artificial intelligence,

  In proportion appropriate,

 In making science-spiced tea.

Women scientist, noble #souls have a big passion,

To work for world world-level program in science,

They do not mind if their spiced tea of science,

Is it in an earthen pot or bone china?

In the US, NASA, #Gaganyan or# Chandaryaan India.

Words three beautiful,

Try-true-trust,

Women #scientist always keep ready in their pocket,

And make spiced tea of science,

 With true #spirit of science,

And try for a better future of #humanity,

 With #infinite trust in Almighty,

In hearts of one and all,

They are remembered fondly,

For their significant role dual,

 Excellent/makers #spiced tea of science.
