Contributions of art Crochet

I am a science teacher in a government school. I am very lucky to have Mrs Mathur, my immediate neighbour. Mrs Mathur is a very good, mature, old, wise lady. She is a single mother of five grown-up kids.

She raised five kids single-handedly, and her kids were her whole #world.

She was working as a teacher in school before marriage.

She always thought that her kids were above her # career and social life. Ultimately, her whole life moved in circles of #motherhood duties. Now her #kids have grown up and are doing very well in their respective #professions. They do visit her whenever they get time. She also visits them whenever she gets #opportunity to do so.

She tells me, "Madam, now my kids are out of the house and I am alone. I am #struggling  to find out who I am?"

I suggested that Mrs Mathur conduct  Crochet classes for the community of our building. I said," This art has many dimensions. It is a creative art. It does not require much money either. This art helps old people in activating acupressure points of the body."

Mrs Mathur liked my suggestion. Now she conducts crochet classes in the community hall of our building. She charges a little fee to conduct the same. Community ladies very fondly learn this old #craft. These classes are giving Mathur aunt #fame and some # financial help. It is a win win situation. Mathur aunty and her children are happy. I am also happy. Senior community ladies are happy.  Everyone involved in this activity is getting a feeling of #satisfaction.

With the efforts of Mrs Mathur, the crochet community has increased. It has become vast and supportive, offering opportunities to connect with others who share their passion for crochet and learn from the experiences of others who know the craft. Young girls of our building are learning some tricks of Mathematics  in topics like permutations  combination through crochet classes.

Studies have shown that crocheting can be a form of therapy, helping with mental health conditions and life events such as grief or chronic illness.

Moral-involving community in positive activity is a satisfying experience.

Small Science STEM-STEAM Projects

I am science teacher in government school. I teach students coming from different, varied backgrounds. Sometimes it is challenging to do so. Handling students' problems with creativity has become a way of my life.

I have planted three medicinal plants, which are tulsi, rose plants, and piperament creeper, in a little garden near my lab in my school.

With my little ideas #creative, I dried rose flower leaves from my home-planted rose plants. To show aroma of rose petals in preparation of food, I prepared kheer with rice, milk and rose petals and served my students at a small get together in #new year. Students were happy to know the creative idea of using rose petals.

I always request students to press flowers in thick blotting paper and make a collage of the structure of a water molecule or any useful chemical with this. This unique creative STEAM educational aid, I framed it, and my science students presented it for the little science #museum of the school. This educational aid was much appreciated by educators visiting the science museum of the school.

Some time to implement my creative ideas for teaching science, I helped students to make chemical structure of DNA with thumb nails. The same students made it very fondly. It was presented to our #science museum by my science students on #science day celebrations.

On our # Republic Day celebration, with my creative habit of thinking with the help of my students, we made the #indian flag with orange peel, raw lemon peel (green)and peel of garlic(white colours). Our principal madam said "Sukarma in your leadership of #creative ideas, your sincere science students always surprise the whole school. We are proud of you and #your sincere students. Your science students are #inspiration for all school students. " My science students thanked #principal madam for her appreciation. I also thanked my #principal, Madam, and my sincere science students for helping and encouraging us in #small creative science projects. "
