Please Do Not Avoid Your Work

I am teaching science in government school. Some of my female students are over weight and they keep visiting doctors for some health problem or other. Some time they come to me and talk about their frustration about their health problems  or  over weight.

My submissions are following for my respected students and for my esteem readers.I must say I am not #physician. This knowledge which I  wish to share ,I must acknowledge I acquired through  my #experience.

1.instead of going to gym for exercise one can do help at home to make oneself healthy and fit.

2.if one avoids taking help from servant and do house cleaning for two hours when ever one get time. This activity  involves  #spending 320 calories.

3.one can try cleaning one's car(,wiping window and doors of car). With this activity one can spend 170 calorie.

4. Helping mother in #squeezing clothes. With this activity one can strengthen muscle of wrist and hands.

5.Helping mother# rolling of roti at home. With this activity one can reduce chances of #frozen shoulders.

If one plan to do physical activities at home one can avoid many physical health problems.

Some times house help are hired for status not for need.If one avoids this thinking ,then many physical problems of body can be corrected.

When we scrub our body then# hormone "endrophin" is released in body that makes us enjoy our work. Cooking good food for family releases #serotonin hormone which makes us stress free.

Moral-My humble submission is that please believe in #Hindu epic GEETA and do good karma. Please do not become #enemy of oneself by avoiding one's day to day work.

Do not Hesitate Ask Questions

I am a science #teacher in a government school. I prefer teaching students by # question-answer technique. Sometimes I show a simple #experiment to my class in the lab. I ask students to write #observation of experiment in their lab note #books.

In homework problems I ask my students to find a possible #interpretation of the experiment observation. For same problems students are allowed to consult their #NCERT book and #chemistry practical book. I also send #digital link of the same through email to make students' work simple. In this exercise, students remain #active and are forced to find the reason behind the observation of the experiment.

Some times after giving a lecture on the key concept, I show students #video or slides of the same in class. In homework problem I ask students to write #summary of what was taught in class.

I strongly believe it is better to ask #questions of relevant content rather than giving students #information directly. Question answer technique increases students #critical thinking, which goes a long way with them in #future.

I also believe in dealing with #numerical problems of particular topics. In homework problems I give my students numerical problems asked in #previous annual board examinations. Sometimes I  change #units of quantity given in numerical form so that students can solve the same numerical problem in #different units.

Moral- If a teacher wishes to increase #critical thinking of his/her students, then should ask #questions to students rather than give simple information regarding the required #concept of the subject matter.

Setting Boundries For Peaceful Future

I am teaching science in a government school. My friend Manju was teaching maths in our school.

Manju got married to a gentleman who worked in the IT sector. Manju's # mother-in-law was mostly on night duty. Manju was not able to come in time to school. Manju said to me, " Madam, there is a small #problem about our timings. My mother-in-law comes back home in the #morning around 4 am. That puts #stress on my day-to-day activity,  I get up early in the morning to give my respected mother-in-law tea, etc. In this exercise I don't get full dose of my sleep. This mismatch in my and my mother-in-law's timings makes me report late to school. "

I said, "Dear Maju, there are situations in life when one has to set boundaries. For this problem, you must set boundaries and convey to your respected mother-in-law with all due #respect that I cannot get up before 6 am. If I do so every day, I will not be able to reach school on time.

Manju said, "I am so hesitant to convey this problem to my mother-in-law. I am #afraid she may not like this. "

I said, "Dear Manju, by setting boundaries to your #problem, you are respecting your mother-in-law, and at the same time, you are finding the way to reach #school on time. "

I said, "Dear Manju, my friend Radha left her government job after marriage, as her school was 3 hours away from her house. All this Radha did as she has set her #boundaries to her problem that she can't spend total of 6 hours travelling for her job".

Moral - In day-to-day life, every individual faces some problem or other. But one must set one's #boundaries to problems to make life straight and peaceful.

Austria Tradition and Sleep Hormones

I was on my way back home after completing my duties at school. I was waiting at the metro station for the metro to come. I met my old student, Sarla. She said, "  Madam, what happens in the morning time is very peculiar. After 5 am temperature of #environment gets a little cooler, and the body becomes #comfortable. I get deeper sleep and am in no #mood to get up early in the morning. I always wonder why it is so.

Science #finding indicates that sleep hormone #"melatonin" responds to darkness and cooler temperatures. Therefore, I found that in the morning I get deep sleep. But unfortunately, it is time to get up and make myself ready to go to school for my #teaching duties. "

I said, "If one gets good sleep at night, one feels fresh and #relaxed the whole day. Good sleep is a sign of #good health. Good sleep regulates all #hormones secreted in one's body."

I further said, "In Austria, people are particular about #sleep hormones. In order that people get good sleep, they open their house window at a frequency of 2 hours for a short while so that the air inside the house, which is moist due to cooking and #breathing, etc, gets replaced by cool, fresh air. This activity brings a lowering of temperature which response to more production of the sleep hormone through the brain glands. "

This process of opening windows of the house/ working place to make the house full of cool, fresh air, is customary in Austria. This practice is a fabric of Austrian culture. They call it #"Luften Time".

Moral -To get good sleep, one should make sure that bedroom has enough #darkness and #cooler temperature available.

Unaccounted Logrithm of Indian Girl Marriage

As a Science teacher in a government school, I see equations everywhere.

Even in human relationships.

Today I wrote this quote and pasted it on our school notice board:

"After marriage, a daughter carries a partial bond with her parents, and a partial bond still in the process of forming with her in-laws. When the system will find stability — that is the luck involved in the future of every girl in India. The factors in this process are complex, and cannot be counted or explained in equations."

It stayed with me. So I wrote a poem around it:

This story lives in every home.

In some homes, it is spoken softly over evening tea.

In most homes, it stays unspoken —

because many think it is "not worth spelling".

But silence doesn’t make it less real.

I have seen this story hidden

in my female student’s eyes

on her day of vidai.

Half smile for her mother,

half hope for the new home.

Three years later, the same student said,

"Madam, now both places are my home."

I was happy for my student.

Because balance and stability in this system

doesn’t come in a day.

It is built by the permutation and combination

of small calls, small adjustments,

small forgivenesses, and small things we choose to forgo.

And that is why it is given the name: special luck.

As a teacher of STEM and STEAM,

I know these special equations are not meant to be solved.

Abstract Maths

I am a science teacher in a government school. My students come from #diverse backgrounds. #Mathematics is a subject that many students find very #challenging. Some of my students believe in studying in groups. They also do heart-to-heart discussions for dealing with personal problems. Students belonging to a particular group have good #bonding.

I observe that each member of the group is very serious about #mathematics problems, and they are very particular about #numerical problems of Physics and Chemistry. While teaching physics and chemistry always tell my students to take care of #units of quantity one is handling while doing #numericals.

Sita and Gita were also members of the #inner circle of the study group of students. Some students used to face many difficulties while handling maths problems. Gita used to approach me. Whenever possible, I will give #personal attention to Gita to solve her mathematics problems. Gita was finding it difficult to cope in a group, especially while handling #mathematics problems. But to my surprise, I found that #Sita every day will come half an hour early to school to teach difficult problems of mathematics to her #best friend Gita.

I found that, slowly, Gita was picking up the difficult problems of mathematics. In my heart, I thanked #Sita for doing wonderful help to her #friend Gita. In class, I said, "Look, students, one should have #friend like Sita. Sita is helping Gita in every possible way so that she can cross the threshold of # mathematics' difficult problems. "

Sita said, "Madam, myself Gita and we are best friends. We both share jokes, personal problems, and the #challenging situation of our lives with each other. Now my friend is in deep #problems because of less mathematics training. Therefore, it is my #moral duty to help out Gita in every possible way. I was so happy with Sita's #maturity level. Other students in class got an important #message from the kind doing of Sita for her friend Gita. One student said, "Madam, this is an example of true friendship. "
