Crochet Activity and Mathematics

I am school teacher in government school. During week ends in evening I with my children go to park. There are five senior citizen ladies, who are very good in #crochet work. Some time I consult them for complex secrets of crochet art.Actually word crochet is derived  from french word #croche which means a hook.A long hook is used to weave yarn by making# loops of yarn in art of crochet.

I some time discuss with my #maths teacher how crochet art can help younger children to develop concept of #mathematics.

I said"crochet is a challenge for our brain.Brain remains attentive as for making #patterns either one increases stitches or decreases stitches .This activity makes new pathways(neural) in brain and help in retention of memory. It is an art which help in# reducing anxiety and makes one's mind calm.If one wishes to achieve mental relaxation then one should learn art of crochet. This wonderful activity also gives one sense of achievement."

One student said"Madam my granny used to teach higher maths to 11-`12 class. She used to tell her students that with help of crochet art one can  make #hyperbolic surface in hyperbolic space.#Hyperbolic surface can be built through crochet art by increase of stitches  or decrease of stitches. On paper making hyperbolic surface is difficult.Crochet activity can be good teaching aid for creating hyperbolic surface." Are you also helping your students making hyperbolic surface through art of crochet?

Moral-Crochet art teaches kids geometry fundamentals. It makes students alert and focused.

Best Coffee of World

I am science teacher in government school. There was a #science conference in science college in Indonesia.

I, with my friend Radha along with my friend went for #poster presentation in science conference in Indonesia .At conference place we met educators from Europe. They said"in India in villages we find some thing unique. They paste #cow dung over walls of their hut to make it #strong and cooler."

Other gentleman said"other unique thing I found is #cow urine is used as medicine in certain ailments"

In conference break fast we were served with #KOPI LUKAW. Kopi in Indonesia means #coffee while LUKAW is Indonesian cat like furry animal. It is called #civet cat.

An Indonesian educator said"this is a special and best coffee produced by our country. For its #unique flavor it is very famous all over world. Actually coffee  beans are not beans. They are part of #coffee fruit shown in figure above.Civets are fed with healthy coffee fruits and #poo of civet cat is cleaned and turned into coffee."

Our other friend from Indonesia said"actually animal civet cat# intestine secrets special #enzyme and in the process acid of intestine interacts with beans and makes beans #smoother, soft and less sour in taste compare to ordinary coffee beans..Civet poo is washed and #cleaned properly and then roasted at  400 #fahrenheit temperature and then grinded to convert it to famous kopi lukaw."

My friend from Bali said"in INDIA also many companies are trying to produce Kopi Lukaw"

I said"As our educator friends from Europe find use of cow dung and  cow urine very unique similarly we Indian find preparation of kopi Lukaw very unique."

Our friend from US said"though in US we drink kopi Lukaw very fondly yet there are many question marks to its preparation. Some of our scientist friend argue that we are #punishing civet cat by putting it in cage.More over this procedure is disturbing $environment cycles and equilibrium."

I said "lots of food we love eating or drinking are weird-but we do not stop them from eating if they taste good".

Tava Roti is Better than Direct Flame baked

I teach science in government school.

I asked students "what is name of gas used in your house stove.? What are its limitation."

One student said"Madam we use natural gas in our house stove. When natural gas burns it releases unhealthy amounts of pollutant in form of particulate matter ,nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide."

I said"Roti or chapati are most unique and #fundamental food available in India. They are special in sense they are prepared for lunch and dinner in many families irrespective of #social status."

Another student said"madam roties look very good as they are rolled in round shape from #wheat floor."

I said"some persons make roti and bake directly on #gas stove with help of spatula.Baking of roti is completed till it gets #brown puff.In this process of baking roti #temperature goes till 500 degree centigrade. At such a high temperature process of #pyrolysis takes place. There is more emission of #nitrogen dioxide and #carbon dioxide from gas stove. That destruct many #proteins, nutrients and fibers from roties.Including roties made by this procedure in diet of any person increases risk of #cancer. There is risk of #lung and #heart diseases."

I further added"there is another #procedure of making roties which is much better than previous one.In this procedure #tawa(shown in figure above) is made use of for making roties.Roti on tava are flipped and cooked on both sides.Temperature is #uniform and optimum on tava surface. Moreover there is no possibility of occurrence of process of #pyrolysis .With tava arrangement emission of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide is less.Hence tava roti is more nutritious compare to roti made on direct flame.

MORAL-It is better to make tava roti, It has low fat contents and is very nutritious.

Difference between LPG and LNG

I teach science in government school.I asked students "what is name of gas used in your house stove.? What are its limitation."Other student said"it is odorless gases mixture of #Hydrocarbon"

I asked"name  hydrocarbon which account for about  30 percent of the #energy use?

Another student said methane.I said"natural gas is composed of 70-90 percent methane.

I asked"what other four gases present in natural gas"

Other student said"ethane, propane butane and pentane"

I  said" By product of burning Natural gas is #carbon dioxide,#nitrogen dioxide and water vapours.  NaturaL gas has highest  energy content with a value of about 50000kJ per kilogram while coal has the lowest with a value of about 30000kJ per kg"

Another student said"Madam CNG is natural gas compressed under pressure.I know this as my car is run by CNG"

Other student said"LPG is not natural gas but is derived from natural gas processing. It has higher energy content. It is portable and available every where.I know this as in my home gas stove is run by LPG. My father runs truck by #LNG(Liquified natural gas)

I said"CNG is lighter than LNG.In case of leakage CNG goes up while LNG spreads in ground. CNG has less amount of carbon compare to LNG,therefore produces less amount of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide on combustion."

I further said"CNG is primarily  made of methane, while LPG is made up of propane."

Please Do Not Avoid Your Work

I am teaching science in government school. Some of my female students are over weight and they keep visiting doctors for some health problem or other. Some time they come to me and talk about their frustration about their health problems  or  over weight.

My submissions are following for my respected students and for my esteem readers.I must say I am not #physician. This knowledge which I  wish to share ,I must acknowledge I acquired through  my #experience.

1.instead of going to gym for exercise one can do help at home to make oneself healthy and fit.

2.if one avoids taking help from servant and do house cleaning for two hours when ever one get time. This activity  involves  #spending 320 calories.

3.one can try cleaning one's car(,wiping window and doors of car). With this activity one can spend 170 calorie.

4. Helping mother in #squeezing clothes. With this activity one can strengthen muscle of wrist and hands.

5.Helping mother# rolling of roti at home. With this activity one can reduce chances of #frozen shoulders.

If one plan to do physical activities at home one can avoid many physical health problems.

Some times house help are hired for status not for need.If one avoids this thinking ,then many physical problems of body can be corrected.

When we scrub our body then# hormone "endrophin" is released in body that makes us enjoy our work. Cooking good food for family releases #serotonin hormone which makes us stress free.

Moral-My humble submission is that please believe in #Hindu epic GEETA and do good karma. Please do not become #enemy of oneself by avoiding one's day to day work.

Austria Tradition and Sleep Hormones

I was on my way back home after completing my duties at school. I was waiting at the metro station for the metro to come. I met my old student, Sarla. She said, "  Madam, what happens in the morning time is very peculiar. After 5 am temperature of #environment gets a little cooler, and the body becomes #comfortable. I get deeper sleep and am in no #mood to get up early in the morning. I always wonder why it is so.

Science #finding indicates that sleep hormone #"melatonin" responds to darkness and cooler temperatures. Therefore, I found that in the morning I get deep sleep. But unfortunately, it is time to get up and make myself ready to go to school for my #teaching duties. "

I said, "If one gets good sleep at night, one feels fresh and #relaxed the whole day. Good sleep is a sign of #good health. Good sleep regulates all #hormones secreted in one's body."

I further said, "In Austria, people are particular about #sleep hormones. In order that people get good sleep, they open their house window at a frequency of 2 hours for a short while so that the air inside the house, which is moist due to cooking and #breathing, etc, gets replaced by cool, fresh air. This activity brings a lowering of temperature which response to more production of the sleep hormone through the brain glands. "

This process of opening windows of the house/ working place to make the house full of cool, fresh air, is customary in Austria. This practice is a fabric of Austrian culture. They call it #"Luften Time".

Moral -To get good sleep, one should make sure that bedroom has enough #darkness and #cooler temperature available.

Abstract Maths

I am a science teacher in a government school. My students come from #diverse backgrounds. #Mathematics is a subject that many students find very #challenging. Some of my students believe in studying in groups. They also do heart-to-heart discussions for dealing with personal problems. Students belonging to a particular group have good #bonding.

I observe that each member of the group is very serious about #mathematics problems, and they are very particular about #numerical problems of Physics and Chemistry. While teaching physics and chemistry always tell my students to take care of #units of quantity one is handling while doing #numericals.

Sita and Gita were also members of the #inner circle of the study group of students. Some students used to face many difficulties while handling maths problems. Gita used to approach me. Whenever possible, I will give #personal attention to Gita to solve her mathematics problems. Gita was finding it difficult to cope in a group, especially while handling #mathematics problems. But to my surprise, I found that #Sita every day will come half an hour early to school to teach difficult problems of mathematics to her #best friend Gita.

I found that, slowly, Gita was picking up the difficult problems of mathematics. In my heart, I thanked #Sita for doing wonderful help to her #friend Gita. In class, I said, "Look, students, one should have #friend like Sita. Sita is helping Gita in every possible way so that she can cross the threshold of # mathematics' difficult problems. "

Sita said, "Madam, myself Gita and we are best friends. We both share jokes, personal problems, and the #challenging situation of our lives with each other. Now my friend is in deep #problems because of less mathematics training. Therefore, it is my #moral duty to help out Gita in every possible way. I was so happy with Sita's #maturity level. Other students in class got an important #message from the kind doing of Sita for her friend Gita. One student said, "Madam, this is an example of true friendship. "

Silver. Nano Wires. AgNWs

Tiny silver nanowires have

How to use Dry Leaves of Garden

am science teacher in government school. My house in city has big garden. There are many fruit #trees in my garden. Two mango trees give lovely mangoes from month of April to June. One jamun and guava tree. Both give fruits in #rainy season. Lemon tree give fruits in #winter season.

In fall/spring season there is #fall of old leaves and #trees get new leaves. During #spring season fruit tree gardens are full of fallen #dry leaves. The dry leaves are to be raked some how from tree garden.

But new science research points out that it is no use raking garden dry leaves and keeping heap of those  leaves outside garden. This process will help in making gutter of lane get jammed up with dry leaves.

New science research further  suggest that  while raking dry leaves of garden  it is best to #break them in small pieces with help of lawn mower and let them #evenly spread in garden. This process will help dry leaves to form #ecosystem for very minute animals - vertebrate/non vertebrate and their offsprings which will help them to #survive. Other advantage in following this procedure is that there will be very less #emissions of green house gases which pollute the environment. Gradually #organic dry leaves will decay slowly and will become part of #organic soil.

Moral- Dry leaves of garden trees are not be filled in #plastic bags. This process will help in #emission of green house gases like #methane which will pollute the #environment.

Science Technology and Comfort Zone.

I am a science teacher in a government school. When I #overhear what my students are talking about. I sometimes feel that the #materialistic world is making students walk only in one narrow lane.

Students often talk about #TV Serial. I often ask them, "Which book are you reading nowadays?"Many students reply, " Madam, we only watch TV serials   . There is hardly any time for us to do extra #readings.".They are fond of driving #cars, but very few students talk about walking as exercise .

Many students carry big # smartphones to school, but one will never find students socializing with #friends and seniors. That has made many students very lonely.

Many times, I find students love #eating outside, and in this activity, they stop appreciating # homemade simple food. That has a big impact on # students' health. Some of my students are also overweight because of the bad habit of #eating out very frequently.

Many students wonder how to write letters on writing pads. But many are good at writing #emails through computers. Students hardly visit their hometown village. They have no idea how beautiful village living is.

In conclusion, science and technology have equipped one with very good time and labour-saving #apparatus, but technology sometimes does not let one realize simple pleasures like #reading a book and doing walking exercise.

Many students are not able to appreciate the value of # hard-earned money as they are always in a cycle of debt or #credit cards. Though this use of #plastic money is safe to handle, it has a different impact on one's life. This is so as students are not able to realize how much money they have spent in their #personal activities.

Moral - science and technology have created many #comfort zones in one's life. But one should be careful in enjoying these #comfort zones. Overuse of these zones should be avoided at any cost.

Science Challenges

I am a science teacher in a government school. I see science is facing a lot of challenges. The coming time is going to be dominated by #artificial intelligence. #Roberts are going to take up many physical labour jobs. A writer's ability to write is also going to be challenged by AI. Science fiction writers help in making # scientists' hypotheses that how society will look with the #dominance of AI in every sphere of life.

If I extend the idea of AI, then meaningful art drawn by artists that are in museums or are part of an exhibition, which eventually will be part of a common popular magazine, will make the common man understand what #challenges society/science are going to face in the future.

Another Good example is #climate change, #global warming data depicts that aquatic life is impacted. Data received can help in #modeling the said phenomenon in the form of an #analytical equation, but the best climate change due to global warming is expressed by an #artist. Art is a very powerful tool that can transform science's abstract ideas into #concrete art which laymen can understand. Word of mouth can be spread through art.

In conclusion, if one looks for a job that requires expertise in #STEM and #arts are ideal and best. One can transition from STEM to the arts when and where required.

Moral -Crucial burning issues which science/society is facing, like the use of AI and global warming, can best be depicted in mathematical equations, which can be used for digital learning. If the same learning when supplemented by a piece of art or good slides with meaningful figures can act as a cherry on ice cream in educational aid.

Macro Activities of Body and Mitochondria

I am a science teacher in a government school. I was teaching the structure of a general cell in my class. I talked about #mitochondria body present in animal and plant cells. I asked a question in class, "Can anybody tell me the function of #Mitochondria in the cell"

One student said, "mitochondria manufacture #ATP molecules which carry energy to #metabolic reactions in any system".

I said "without mitochondria, a cell will not have any capacity to produce the required energy for the system and eventually will die. "

I further said "#mitochondria receive specific molecules like #hydronium and it recycles ADP into ATP, which makes an energetic bond in ATP. That liberated energy is used to manipulate proteins, help in nerve activity and basically keeps one alive. "

Another student asked, "Madam!Basically, we should keep our #mitochondria healthy to keep ourselves healthy. "

I said"There is no magic to keep one's mitochondria present in one's cell healthy. One can't just concentrate on #mitochondria in isolation. What you can do is eliminate all activities on a macro level that can harm your body, like drinking alcohol, smoking, not exercising and staying stressed. These things cause the body over overwork overtime to eliminate the #toxic chemicals and thus also #mitochondria go into overdrive mode to provide energy to a system working hard to clear out the #toxicity.

Moral -Instead of focusing on keeping #Mitochondria healthy, one should focus on living a clean and healthy lifestyle.

Decluttering Science Home Labs

I teach science in a government school. I teach chemistry in school. Teaching chemistry labs to secondary level students requires a lot of #vigilance on the part of the teacher and #support staff. Acid bottles (concentrated) are to be wiped off very diligently after each lab visit by students. If not done, these bottles will spoil #working table of practical platform.

Side cupboards for chemicals used by students for salt analysis are to be refilled two times in a semester. #Chemistry store where glass apparatus and other less-used chemicals are stored requires Decluttering once a semester. One has to maintain a lab book, which #chemicals are about to be over. Stored bottles whose chemicals are over are to be decluttered once a semester. Visual aid charts, pasted in the lab like a periodic table, are to be cleaned from time to time. #Capillary tubes, burettes, pipettes, petri dishes, and gas jars stored in the lab sometimes get broken; therefore, broken apparatus are to be decluttered from time to time. That requires a lot of management and #time on the part of the teacher and support staff.

Decluttering at home also requires a lot of management. My two # cupboards are filled with chemistry books, help books, and practical books. Decluttering them, I have to think twice, as I feel I might need them. Many books, I give to needy #students. Then there are books for my children: storybooks, quiz books, etc. I declutter them from time to time. My clothes, my children's clothes, which I think their life is over. I put it in a bag and give it to my house help if she needs them. Then there are so many empty clean bottles in the kitchen store, which are used for restoring other edible items. #Decluttering, newspaper, and empty containers require help from scrab gentleman.

This cycle of #cluttering science/home lab with required chemical /eatables and science/home lab apparatus and then decluttering them when their utility is over is a #cyclic process and a parallel process.

Sometimes I hear comments in day-to-day life that Science teachers/homemakers are not helping students/children to the required level. They can do a better job. I feel I wish comment makers get a chance to look at #load of school teachers and homemakers.

Importance of Emotional Health

I am a science teacher in a government school. I had a friend, Usha, who was a very #cheerful person. After her marriage, I found her energy levels were #depleting.

I talked to dear Usha. I found" she was hiding her emotions and pains, that's why she was looking so tired. I said, "Please do not #suppress your emotions and #pains. Please do talk to your loved ones about #emotional issues you are facing. I am sure that sharing your emotional problems, your #pains will become less. You will find many people like yourself sailing in the same boat.  Talking to people on the phone or in person is the best solution to improve your emotional energy. I found that dear Usha started learning music, which improved her emotional energy. "

After Covid 19, my students said, "Madam, taking classes on # Zoom was depleting our #energy levels. We were hoping when we would be able to join #school and have one-to-one discussions with teachers and #peers physically. Madam, some things were missing. "I said, " Students, your #emotional energy was depleting during covid COVID-19 lockdown."

I further said, " To increase my emotional energy, students, I write #blogs every day. I make sure to join my #whasts up group social discussion. I regularly talk to my #loved/respected ones like my sister, friends and students on the phone and, if possible to meet them in #person. These are my small activities to increase my #emotional energy. I know writing #blog, I am contributing very little to society. But friends that increase my #emotional energy and, in a way, keep me mentally fit.

Moral -Along with #physical health, emotional health of a person is #equally important. Therefore fore it is good to do little #positive activities in day-to-day life to improve one's #emotional energy

Moringa Trees

Moringa oleifera, commonly known as #Moringa, is  fast-growing tree. Its #positive point is they are #drought resistant, which is due to climate change, if there is drought in that specific place where moringa trees are #cultivated. These trees will remain #healthy.

Another plus point about the moringa tree is that its fruits and #leaves are full of nutrition and minerals.

Nowadays, one can get #moringa cookies and moringa tea. Moringa roti made from moringa leaves is very popular in #Asian countries.

Climate is changing very frequently, and #moringa trees can sustain themselves in odd climate changes.

Looking at the unexpected climatic changes the world is facing, it is high time we should #concentrate on #cultivating the moringa tree, especially when we foresee that #seasonal crops will not survive. Moringa fruits are used in Indian sambhar preparation and are very fondly eaten with #idli and rice. A good pickle is also made from #moringa fruits.

Powder of dry moringa leaves is very good for #helping high blood pressure patients.

Moral- Moringa tree is hot #temperature and drought resistant. It is very good for #human health. Therefore, it is good to make ample use of it in #food preparation.

Chemistry Leading its Full life

I was teaching  chemistry to my class in chemistry lab. I got a knock at my chemistry lab door. I got a knock at my chemistry lab door. A very pleasant angel-like figure came to me and asked, "Where is chemistry madam?"I said, " I do not know. That angel-like figure said," I am asking you this, madam, as I hear that chemistry has taken leave today. I know chemistry very closely; she never takes leave. There must be some urgent work for her to do, that's why she must have taken leave. I said to Angel, "Please don’t knock at this time on my lab door. I have to finish my class".

Angel searched hard for chemistry. Angel noticed the chemistry department was concerned about the health of a sick student at the university. So she was monitoring the antibiotics taken by sick students in the university health center. Chemistry was asking the health center staff about life-saving drugs, also.

Angel also found chemistry chatting with the university team that makes policies for the well-being of students.

Angel was happy to find how happy chemistry was to put good, balanced food on students' plates.

Angel also talked to chemistry and found that Chemistry is very proud of her discovery of the synthesis of fertilizer ammonium nitrate, which made food possible for every child in the world. She felt happy that#UNESCO and the world appreciate her(chemistry) for being generous –brilliantly.

Angel found chemistry while visiting the old-age home of the university. She was distributing beautiful synthetic polymer dresses very happily to those in need people her dear ones.

Chemistry said to the angel, "She is very grateful to the university administration for giving funding to teachers so that they could do high-level research in my (chemistry) deep-rooted nature. "

Chemistry said further, "She feels blessed that her humble bonding with the university trust for decades and centuries has helped in her personal growth. In world-class universities, museums, high-tech parks, hospitals, she feels very humbled when people thank her for giving a helping hand in the operation theater and classroom and research Lab and entertainment theatres, classrooms, defence and research labs.

Angel briefed me and said, "Madam Chemistry is visiting so many places, every moment echoes of blessing for her  (chemistry )are ringing wide.  Everyone has praise for the blessings of discoveries in chemistry with gratitude at heart. It may seem Chemistry is on leave today, but for a purpose---"

Angel suddenly disappeared; it was time for me to get up. My heart was filled with joy. I only wished alas, I could have talked to Angel for a longer time

Small Science STEM-STEAM Projects

I am science teacher in government school. I teach students coming from different, varied backgrounds. Sometimes it is challenging to do so. Handling students' problems with creativity has become a way of my life.

I have planted three medicinal plants, which are tulsi, rose plants, and piperament creeper, in a little garden near my lab in my school.

With my little ideas #creative, I dried rose flower leaves from my home-planted rose plants. To show aroma of rose petals in preparation of food, I prepared kheer with rice, milk and rose petals and served my students at a small get together in #new year. Students were happy to know the creative idea of using rose petals.

I always request students to press flowers in thick blotting paper and make a collage of the structure of a water molecule or any useful chemical with this. This unique creative STEAM educational aid, I framed it, and my science students presented it for the little science #museum of the school. This educational aid was much appreciated by educators visiting the science museum of the school.

Some time to implement my creative ideas for teaching science, I helped students to make chemical structure of DNA with thumb nails. The same students made it very fondly. It was presented to our #science museum by my science students on #science day celebrations.

On our # Republic Day celebration, with my creative habit of thinking with the help of my students, we made the #indian flag with orange peel, raw lemon peel (green)and peel of garlic(white colours). Our principal madam said "Sukarma in your leadership of #creative ideas, your sincere science students always surprise the whole school. We are proud of you and #your sincere students. Your science students are #inspiration for all school students. " My science students thanked #principal madam for her appreciation. I also thanked my #principal, Madam, and my sincere science students for helping and encouraging us in #small creative science projects. "
