Work life balance at old age

I was teaching in school. Whenever a student complains to me that he/she is not able to do # work-life balance, I will make him/her understand that work-life balance is very important in life. In fact, it is key to remain #happy in life.

Now I am an old person. The #hardest part about getting older is #striking the right balance in everything I do.

If I walk a little more some time, I do get #knee pain, if I walk less, I tend to put on #weight in all the wrong places.

If in function or at a party, I eat more, I get gas and #indigestion, if I eat less, I feel hungry at night and get a #headache.

If I eat a little spicy food at the party. I get acidity and heartburn. If it is bland, my #tongue doesn't relish it.

Sometimes I decide to cook something new and tasty, but reading the recipe itself makes me tired, so I go back to cooking the same old thing.

Sometimes I have to travel to the required #destination, but the thought of #packing makes me feel that I am better off at home.

Sometimes I wish to try something new, but can't do so as  I can not collect the #courage or #stamina to do something off the beaten track.

Now I do realize work-life balance at a young age is different from that at an older age. This may be due to a hormonal imbalance at old age. At a young age, I had the energy but lacked #funds, today it's the other way round. I have the funds but lack the #energy. To save money at a young age, I used to travel far off from home in #public transport and would fetch things I needed at #reasonable prices. But in old age, I travel in #private transport and spend more money to get things I need. Sometimes I depend on #digital shopping to get things for my everyday requirements like milk and vegetables, etc.

Moral of Story-Dynamics of work-life balance at a young age are much different from the dynamics of work-life balance at an older age.

Be a Huming Bird and Hunt for Knowledge

I was teaching science in school. Many of my intelligent students used to go to a coaching center to get consultations in subjects after school physics, chemistry and mathematics in the heart of the city. Many students will start preparing for #JEE or#NEET (entrance test for professional courses) from class XI onwards.

I observed that these students were going through a lot of #anxiety at school and at the coaching center also. They are always looking for a good mechanism to #cope with these difficult situations. If time permits them from their busy schedule, sometimes these students will come to me also and express their #uncomfortable zone happenings.

My submissions were as follows

Friend, when you are not happy with your situation in life, please sip sweet #memories of happy moments you spent in school with your friends. These #positive emotions will give you #courage to face #odd happenings in life, and you will go one step ahead in #seeking knowledge, which you require to clear the professional course entrance examination. Be like a #nector collector in a path for seeking knowledge. Please stop having #anxiety over small things in life by doing YOGA exercises or meditation.

I agree some days are not up to #your mark, please forgive them. Keep learning all subjects in small steps. Always try to keep #smile on your face. All these small #tricks, if you follow dear student in life, you will be like a # hummingbird that is always on the hunt to search for food. In your case, please always be on the hunt for knowledge, and please follow this strict #discipline in life. I am sure you will clear the professional course entrance examination with flying colors.

Middle Class People

I was going home after teaching at school. I was crossing the road, car suddenly stopped for me. I was very happy to see my old friend Mala.

My self and my friend Mala decided to take coffee in a nearby #coffee house.

We remembered the old days when we were in our twenties.

I said, "Mala, I did not have any problems before marriage. My parents faced a lot of problems. But they didn't let any problems come to their children's notice.  I got whatever I wanted. So speaking truth, I did not get any #opportunity to learn. Once I got married, I felt life had so much to offer so I should learn with interest. My post-married life started with below below-middle lifestyle. So immediately my brain got some #stimulation to get activated. Some hope, some struggle to achieve something, generated in me. I started thinking, what is life if one has no problems? How would one evolve? What is the use of living only with one shade, one taste, one color? Is there life in that?"

In the middle class(MC) people's life, suppose there are ten steps to reach the peak of success. While climbing each step, they feel so excited. Each step taken by them is criticized, dissected, and discouraged by their own people (out of fear and concern for them). They have to travel alone on their new path if they want to reach the success of the upper middle class.  Till they reach a certain level, they won't find anyone in their eye #reaching radius.

.Ah suddenly  when they(MC) reach tenth step climbing one by one--and taste success

Then what is left after tasting success----

They(MC) have to struggle a lot to make their own people believe really they have tasted success. They come down from a place of success and sit worrying and praying to God to protect them from losing their position(upper middle class). To maintain their acquired upper-middle-class position, MC people have to compete in a strong world with their weak bodies and weak backgrounds. They(MC) can't afford to lose a single opportunity.

They have to #conserve literally everything.  Books, clothes, things, water, power, food, etc, even emotions and love. The obvious thing MC people do realize one should not lack in vitamin ‘M' called #money.

I struggled a lot to make the people surrounding me believe that I really have tasted success. When I wore my first jewellery, no one believed it was gold, and I bought it with my hard work. Just because I got off the city bus.

Middle class(MC) people must keep their #ambitions,# ideologies, in a store room for some time. Sometimes they too need money to express their emotions, like love. Love and lover both sometimes have to wait for a long time to get entry in the upper-middle-class category.

Moral of the Story- for middle-class people,  life has its own charm. Full of hope and moral values-----

Digging rolling and tunnelling

 I was asleep

when a copper-coloured beetle touched my feet.

The strongest insect that fondly eats,

our planet’s daily waste.

Rolling, digging and tunnelling dung,

It sings songs of life with balls of dung.

Forwards and backwards into balls,

Rolling, rolling spheres of manure,

picking up seeds at every turn.

Moving, dispersing and fertilizing

seeds on the move by rolling dung balls.

Digging, digging to bury those balls.

A store of moisture, a harvest of food.

A safe abode and nursery,

brooding babies, all-in-a-ball.

Tunnelling, tunnelling, spreading that dung,

repeatedly changing the texture of soil.

Porosity, quality, and germination

all get better where dung beetles dwell.

Egyptians and Adivasi knew

the values of these scarab saviours.

So keep these achievers in the loop,

revere those scavenging beetle troops,

cleaning up our planet’s poops

Carpe Dime All Days Forward

I was teaching in school. On Saturday, children have  co-curricular activity class. I have requested Mr Nandi to advise students about the best way to carry oneself in life.

His submissions were as follows

Get to know yourself.

Keep calm and carry on. Never talk too much.

Interact with everyone EQUALLY.Do not show that you are sad and not happy.

There is no substitute for hard work.

Don't repeat same mistakes in life.

Be strong and assertive.

I am a science teacher at my school. To give my student a flavor of experience in the science lab, I wrote a small poem, "carpe diem all days forward," and pasted it on the notice board of the school. The same I am listing below for my respected readers.

 Carpe diem, all days forward

My dear friends, when I was 18 years old,

What seems to me just and right,

Sometimes I found it was not right,

With people around me, I was #disagreeing annoyingly,

But I listened, argued and #debated with them respectfully,

In the process, the opinions I had often changed,

And my views about the world also #drastically changed.

Into a specific identity I   was #pigeonholed,

Sometimes I found myself surrounded,

By people with perspective - thoughts of #diversity,

Sometimes I found myself surrounded,

By people who look, pray and vote differently,

I #embraced them and their views I respected,

In the process, I found I attained #unique identity.

My young  friends, the world is yours,

Clean and feed it, grow and #nurture,

Own it and make it yours,

Fill it with songs of #togetherness,

With smiles and hugs,

And #preserve it for your children and future.

Just get up, dress up and show up the world,

That is the same air we breathe all,

The same soil we walk all,

To be happy in life, we want it all.

Seize the day of happiness! My dear young friends,

And #carpe diem all days forward, my dear young friends
