Indian Curry

India is a vast country. It has many states. Each state is unique in its traditions and, very importantly, infood curries. Food is still a very important activity of  women in India. Food diversity in India is absolutely

 mind-boggling, so is Indian curries.

I am fond of cooking. Being a chemistry teacher, I enjoy making my own recipes, and I also try them as and when I get time.  We Indians make different types of curries.

We friends sometimes do discuss different curries, different curries  or gravies in our Indian cooking methods.

My friend Asha wanted me to write several different curries in the form of a little article so that she could send the same to her daughter living in USA. I wrote a summaryof different Indian curries. My submission  is as follows

The Western and outside world thinks Indian curry is just one reddish oily one, either it is veg or nonveg. But it is not so. We have the following types of curries, depending on the main ingredients. I am listing below.

1. Regular ground onion, red chillies, and tomato curry.

 Like in chicken curry

2. Mashed lentils (dhals), chilly powder, tamarind gravy

.. Like in sambaar

3. Plain mashed dhal with red chillies and ghee…

as in dhal tadka

4. Onion, green chillies, tomato curry. Tomato gravy

 for rice and chapathis

5. Onion, chili powder, tomato curry.

 Like in potato -peas gravy

6. Onion, chili powder, tamarind curry.

As in Chennai dish kara kuzhambu or Madras spicy red gravy

7. Onion, green chillies, and coconut paste curry.

 Like in kurumas, Kerala gravies

8. Red chillies, tamarind, and coconut curry.

 Like Mangalore gravies

9. Onion, chillies, cashew/almond paste,/cream curry.

 Like Lucknowy and Kashmiri curries

10. Bengal gram green chillies, ground together with curd added

 last…Tamil butter milk gravy

11. Bengal gram powder, curd, green chillies curry…

 As in Punjabi kadi

12. Onion, black pepper and tamarind curry.

 Milagu kozhambu..Tamilian pepper gravy,

Moral of the Story: Friends, we need one chilly/ pepper type,

one base and one sour balancer or sweet balancer.

The base can be onion, cooked dhal,  Bengal gram paste, ground coconut, tomato, curds, tamarind, fresh cream, almond or cashew or poppy seeds.

Unbaked Pichers

My student Radha said, "School teaching is a very hard job. Even the salary structure is also not good, but Madam, you still keep a very strong opinion that a teaching job is most suitable  for me."

I said, "My student, my parents-in-law are old and have 45 years of married life together. The pattern of their fights that I observe is always the same. They always try to change each other, which seems impossible. Both have individual personalities."

I further said"Out of love and concern about  loved one's health and safety issues, I have seen more and more people like my in-laws who tend to change their dear ones.  However, in this process, they forget their originality. They try to impose their wishes and habits on their loved ones, which sometimes is suffocating for them."

Friends, but in our teaching job, we teachers get the opportunity to inculcate good habits in our children/students by practicing good habits ourselves. We can teach them the right things when they are children. It's such a joy to make changes  in unbaked pitchers-our students

The pitcher that is already baked(adults) will break if we try to change its shape.

We teachers, find a lot of things that could be improved in society. But it is very hard for us(teachers)to change parents, spouses, neighbors, colleagues, because they are baked, solid, and hard.

In the process of teaching, we teachers bring# positive changes in ourselves also. We learn to ignore things and let others live how they want. Sometimes, if the need arises, we maintain a distance from them to suppress unnecessary conflicts.

Moral of the story-Education is a process and not product. We teachers, are an important part of education. Teachers are always involved with unbaked pitchers(students), therefore, they are nation builders.

Grand Daughter-Grand Father o

 Grand Daughter-Grand Father Duo

I am  my grandfather's candle light,

I keep account of all his activities,

What is he eating?,

At what time is he eating?

The diet recommended  by doctors,

Is he eating?

Has he taken his medicine?

 Prescribed by a doctor?.

My grandfather  is a patient  of asthma,

I keep track,

If he has taken his required dose,

Of asthma medicine through a puff?.

Did he go for his evening  walk?,

Did he go to collect bread and fruits for me?

In the evening from the market nearby,

Are his clothes ironed properly?,

That's why Dadaji calls me,

His daughter's candlelight is bright.

I share with him all my academic,

 Homework difficulties,

Dadaji tells me tricks to handle,

 My problems,

He encourages me in the field every day.

He is my best friend,

When he is out of the home,

His absence at home disturbs me,

When he  goes to his village,

For a few days,

For his return and safety,

I pray daily.

With him, I have a different  type,

 Of  bonding strongly,

We understand  each other,

Even without uttering a few words.

My grandfather  loves me,

He will not take,

His food was without seeing me,

God bless Grand daughter-grandfather duo

Friendship eternal.

Physician at Clinic

Physician at Clinic

My friend Mamta was a general physician. She had just finished her internship, and was waiting for a letter of appointment from the government hospital.

Mamta’s father's friend Dr. Rana was surgeon. It so happened that he was going on a personal assignment abroad. Dr Rana said," Since I will be away from my clinic for six months therefore Dr Mamta can practice in my  medical clinic".

Mamta was very happy to get such a good offer  from Dr Rana. Mamta started going to Dr Rana's medical clinic. Only three to four patients used to come.

After that, Mamta had to wait in the clinic as her timings were from 9 am to 12 pm.

Mamta, being very fresh, was confused about how to pass her time in the clinic .When patients were not there. When patients were not in clinic to pass her time, Mamta would knit a sweater. Clinic staff were unhappy with this arrangement.

One day, a senior health staff member came to Dr Mamta and told her Madam, this clinic is very precious for all of us. Dr Rana taught us not to waste a single minute in this clinic. But Madam Mamta up to our surprise, in your free time, instead of reading  health scientific journals lying in the cupboard of Dr Rana, you waste your precious time knitting sweaters. Madam, this is not acceptable tothe staff of this health clinic.

Dr Mamta realized her mistake and apologized for the same.

The moral of story is that every moment at  workplace should be spent for the cause of profession.

Key Words- General Physician, Surgeon, Clinic Staff, medical scientific journals

Philosophy improve thinking

Philosophy isn't just about theories,

It's a valuable tool that sharpens ,

The mind and trains us,

 To  openly think and brings,

 Order in thoughts,

That's exactly why people smart ,

Are drawn near it .

Philosophy insist you to think about the matters ,

people take very casually otherwise,

It sharpens clarity in a world full of noise.

It opens up thinking in many dimensions

philosophy serves as a framework powerful

for learning any other discipline later in life.

It’s a mindset essential,

That we should be nurturing ,

philosophy from day one,

Philosophy as a school subject ,

Isn't extra — it's essential for life"_

Mother Scientist

Poem escribrs how morher who id scientific in approach to her work bridges subjectivity and objectivity at home front.on pyher words itprovide comprehensive view of mother scientist

Bridging Subjectivity and Objectivity: While science focuses on objective truths, poetry allows for the subjective, emotional experience of that truth, providing a more comprehensive view of reality.

Examples of Integration of science and arts areScience Haikus: Students and researchers write haikus to succinctly summarize complex concepts like neurobiology or environmental issues.

Nature Journaling: Combining sketching, painting, and poetic reflections with scientific observations in nature.

My first science arts  creation is mother scientist

I am a scientist,

I fondly work in a research lab,

I am also a mother,

With equal passion, I work in the home lab.

Sometimes I work alone in a science/home lab,

I tell myself Oh! Mother, oh! Scientist,

be brave, apply your scientific skill

and enlighten your

sense of a scientist and motherhood.

I am getting trained in science/home front,

and training others/children too for something unique,

special which has  goal-oriented science/family culture,

I must feel proud, working in lab, home/science,

to sustain a culture of science in research/home lab.

When I work in a science/home lab,

sometime nobody is there to speak to me,

I speak to myself and work alone,

I wonder sometimes in lab science/home.

No one is responding to my call,

I tell myself why I am working alone.

Yes! to set a role model for,

new researchers /family members,

In lab –science/home.

Friends some extra money I keep for difficult times,

same with special zeal, I work in science/home lab.

My soul gives me unique strength and belief,

it gives me email: “Oh! Mother, oh! Scientist! You can’t go back,

to go back is impossible in existence.

So please like the river fearlessly,

enter the ocean -knowledge- science,

one day, you will certainly become ocean – ocean-knowledge-science,

and with strong resonances of your work in science.

Sky will definitely come down to salute,

You, dutiful, dedicated scientist mother: ocean- knowledge-science.

Let us honour the woman mother scientist who raised us,

making sacrifices for us every day,

and nurturing our families and,

greater communities by contributing to the science society,

positively with their precious time and endless

effort.
