Science Behind Names of kids

I am a Grade One teacher, and I say " parents who give their kids an odd name or one that is difficult to spell put their kids at a disadvantage when it comes to learning how to write. "
I remember I had a smart student, Arunabh, in my class. His name was difficult to spell, and it took him longer to learn how to spell it. Arunabh's parents were of the view that the name should have a good meaning, so whenever you call a child by his name, it should give a good impression on the child's personality.
While there were students in my class who had more common names with easier spelling achieved the task of writing their name quickly and had a sense of achievement for the same. Those kids who worked hard to learn how to write their name often exhibited a lower sense of self-esteem as they watched other students able to spell simple names like Rani and Raja quickly.
Sometimes, when I hear an oddly spelled name, I wonder if their parents have a clue what difficulties they're putting on their child. I say, "The idea of names is acting like a 'first handshake' for the ears, and it gives such a powerful image.
I love the connection to sound symbolism and how our brains associate names with traits." I further say, "
When you shout out x name, that name carry culture, history, and emotion and deserves to be treated with that weight.
A name like Rani, which means queen. The name Raja means king. Similarly name Medha means intelligence. All three names mentioned above carry culture and history, and emotions."

I strongly believe that it is such fun to pronounce the names of students and know their associated meaning. Many parents don’t realize there is science behind what makes names sound pleasing. Some of these names do have a nice ring to the ears. Like the female name Rimjhim rings so well in ears— gets me thinking about what makes a name memorable.
Some teachers believe that taking students' attendance with roll number saves much of their time. But I beg to differ from their opinion. Taking attendance of students by calling students' names has a positive impact on students' personalities.
I request my esteemed readers, "When you assign a name to a child, kindly take care of the following aspect in mind."
1. A child's name should ring pleasant in the ears
 2. The child's name should not be difficult to pronounce and write.
 3. If possible child's name should have good cultural and historical references.
The best example of the three aspects mentioned above is the name Ram. So simple to speak and write. It has a cultural historical reference. It sounds sweet to the ears. Short names with good meaning and a pleasant, sweet sound have a positive impact on a child's personality.

It helps in overthinking

Keep thinking, and doing nothing throws in the darkness of our own mind.

Writing down things helps dealing with overthinking, and ending up on a conclusion turns it into deep thinking with practical outcomes.

Writing down things do play a vital role in transferring knowledge and wisdom to the next generations. (Just think for a moment, what if our ancestors didn't have crafted things and texts on stones and leather? What if they never had the scriptures?)

The bonus point is, it is the only wealth that increases on sharing. You invest by share something and get more and more in return.

Wise Daughter

Mr and Mrs Gupta are my next door neighbours. They have one daughter Radha. Radha was my brilliant student in my school.

Since childhood, Radha daughter of Mr and Mrs Gupta had one peculiar habit —

About 4–5 days before her birthday, she would start asking,

“Papa and mom, did you buy the gift  for my birthday?"

Mr and  Mrs Gupta would smile and shake their head, saying no.

Radha would yell in anger.

But on her birthday, when she would  get a surprise gift, from her parents her happiness would knew no bounds!

This time, Radha was at her in-laws’ home.

Still, Mr and Mrs Gupta bought a gift and went to her in -laws house, intending to surprise Radha on her birthday.

Quietly, they entered the house .Up to their surprise from inside, they could hear Radha crying, and her husband and mother-in-law arguing loudly.

Mrs Gupta said " Madam my  heart sank. Heavy-hearted, we turned around and walked away. Standing on the main road outside, we called Radha through mobile phone and expressed our wish to visit her."

She replied,

“Papa, mom please donot come today . We’re going out for dinner —my parent in laws and my husband are celebrating my birth day .We all are going  for dinner outside. After all it’s my birthday today."

I said "Madam Gupta, your daughter Radha , who once seemed so delicate yet stubborn, how much she  has changed with time…"

I further said "Mrs Gupta please do   not worry about Radha. With time things will improve. These small  happenings  here and there are little human errors in woman's life which make her strong  perfect daughter  and daughter in law.You should  feel proud of Radha."

Mrs Gupta did not utter a single word but tears rolled down her cheeks. Are you also wise daughter?

Working Hard vs Spending Time Quote Sukarma Thareja

Working hard for your family is important, but spending time with them is even more important. Because children remember your presence, not your wealth.

Are you spending time with your family?

Truth Power

I am a science teacher in a government school. My student, Govind, is in the habit of not speaking the truth. Many students of his class used to #ignore him for the same.

Once I asked Govind about his different behavior of not speaking the truth.  He accepted that, madam, I know sometimes I am at #fault.

I said," Dear Govind, please leave this habit of not speaking the truth. You will soon realize your friends will not #trust you. You will be labelled as a category of not untrustworthy boy. That #tag will  go a long way with you."

I further said, "Dear Govind, please understand truth and trust are strong #pillars of a good relationship bridge. If you happen to lose one, the other will fall. Truth and trust go hand in hand with each other. Never think that you can go high in life with #cretches of not speaking the truth."

Govind said," Dear Madam, I realize lying can erode my trust in my group and make it difficult to maintain healthy relationships. "

I said, "Dear Govind, A reputation for dishonesty not speaking the truth can be difficult to repair."

Govind said," Madam, I realised whenever I conceal the truth that leads me to feelings of guilt and shame. "

I said," Dear Govind, you will soon realize concealing the truth can be challenging for effective communication. When one is not being truthful, psychology says this exercise of not speaking the truth can make it harder for a person to express his/her needs and desires, leading to misunderstandings. That person's mind is not clear and is full of fog, going here and there randomly. "

On my advice, Govind changed his behavior of not speaking the truth.

Other students of his class said to me, " Madam, now Govind is a different person altogether. He does not believe in not speaking the truth. He is an entirely  #new person. It is fun and joyful talking and working with him. Now we  students count Govind  among #trustworthy  friends."

I, as a teacher, was so happy for my student, Govind. He accepted my # advice, and he is being respected in his peer group.

Are you in habit of concealing facts ?

Moral - Please see that not speaking the truth is not going to take you a long way. Truth allows people to see the world as it is. It has good components and it has bad components. Therefore, not speaking the truth is not going to make us wiser

Social Pressure

I am science teacher in government  school. My student Manju had six sisters. Manju's family was my next door neighbour. Manju and her sisters were very fond of wearing  new #dresses. My neighbour Mrs Gupta(Manjus mother) was also fond of buying dresses  for her dear daughters. But some how she was in habit of collecting good dresses for her daughters. She will not let her daughters wear those beautiful dresses.

My neighbour daughters used to #complain to me for wrong doing of their respected mother.

One day I said "Mrs Gupta please let girls enjoy their dresses now. Who knows about their future."

Mrs Gupta had her own reply, she said " Madam at the time of marriage  of each daughter we being parents of daughter have to give many beautiful dresses to our daughter and ladies of groom family, thaswhy I am collecting the dresses for same."

Other day I happen to meet Manju in a market. She said "Madam dresses my mother collected for giving me for my wedding are out of fashion now. Therefore all  collections of dresses which my mother did are of no use to me."

Social pressures can be positive or negative impact on society.

Social pressure of making aged parents stay with children has  positive  impacts in society. On the other hand  social pressure of dowry custom has negative impact on society.

I realised social pressre can be from peer group, friend and family. It is question of conforming to norms. For some reason if you happen to not conform  to norm of a group you will not be accepted  in group. Same was happening to Manju's family. Mother was trying her best so that her doings are accepted  by society. Somehow Manju and her sisters were not happy with same as they had their own norms which were not acceptable to their mother.Hence a big conflict between mother and daughters due to different  social pressures.

Are you also feeling social and peer pressure  in some form or other.

Pl put comment if you happen to like my blog.
